Networks, Resource sharing, internet connectivity
Networking services are an integral component of most modern PC's.
If your PC is not equipped with the appropriate hardware various add on
components are readily available.
For
internet connection, depending on where you live either a dial up or
ADSL Broadband modem enables the service to be implemented.
Various alternatives such as bluetooth
for
mobile phones could be
an option.
These services can be configured to allow a
number of
PC's (and other
devices) to simultaneously access the internet.

Within this network environment it is
realistic
for computers to share
devices such as printers, scanners or disc
drives.
If you wish to use a laptop computer for mobile use it is not always
necessary to permanently store data on it. Data can be stored on
networked external disks or on the disk drives of other networked PC,s.
The data required at any particular moment can be quickly loaded on to the
laptop. Similarly data acquired whilst mobile (away from the private
network) can be saved
back to the network disks up on your return.
This is a major benefit when you consider the potential of a lost, damaged
or stolen Laptop
computer
