Consider the investment in software and data installed on the old one.

Moving most programs from one PC to another is very complex. The main programs might be installed within the Program Files directory but it is almost certain that an array of DLL files will have been installed into the windows system folder. Even more frustrating is that components are placed in numerous locations within the windows registry and similarly in locations of your hard disk drive. Manually finding each element and moving and replacing it precisely is just not practical.

What about re-installation ?

The usual approach is to reinstall all the software that was on your old PC, of course after finding all the original source media.  These include CDs, DVD's, software downloaded from  the internet, printer and camera drivers and any antivirus software and their regular updates. Serial numbers and activation keys must be recovered for many applications which may have been discarded during the life of the old computer.
